  • Should have a qualifying business
  • Get a letter of support from a designated organization
  • The language requirements are met. This means you must meet minimum score of the Canadian Language Benchmark level which is 5 in speaking, reading, listening, and writing in either English or French.
  • Bring enough funds to settle

Nominated entities that are authorized to make an investment are A Canadian private sector angel investor, venture capital fund, or business incubator.

 

The following requirements must be met by the investors:

  • Angel investor group which has been designated must invest at least $75,000 into the qualifying business. Candidates can also qualify with two or more investments from angel investor groups totaling $75,000.
  • Venture capital fund which has been designated must invest at least $200,000 into the qualifying business.
  • Lastly, a business incubator must accept the applicant into its business incubator program.

Requirements for Start-Up Visa Program Business Ownership

  • One of the requirements is that the intended business must be incorporated and carrying on business in Canada.
  • At least 10 percent of the voting rights in the corporation must be of the candidate.
  • The majority of the voting rights in the corporation will be held by the person who has established the company.
