Everything About Canada Express Entry

Canada with their plan to invite more than 1 Million people by end of 2021, introduced Express Entry system on January 2015. It is a viable Canada immigration process, managed by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for professional who want to immigrate to Canada. It is a competitive system which is based on points the applicant scores and are ranked and invited accordingly.* The more the applicants score is, the higher are the chances of selection. The usual time frame for selection from Express Entry Program ranges between 06 to 12 months, or lesser depending on the rank and the authority decision. There are 3 types of Express entry system introduced, Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trade Program and Canadian Experience Class.

To qualify for Express Entry- Federal Skilled Worker program, an applicant needs to achieve minimum of 67 qualifying points. The factors on which these points are claimed are- Age, Education, Experience, Language proficiency (Either French or English), LMIA for applicant or additional adaptability factors (relative in Canada, Spouse language proficiency, education or experience for applicant in Canada or spouse arranged job offer)

How does this Express Entry works?

  • Find out if you are eligible?

    To be eligible and apply for Canada Express Entry, an applicant must have professional education completed from a recognized university. Should have skill and knowledge of the experience they are applying. Full time experience is mandatory and has to be proven by the applicant.

  • Complete your ECA.

    If your education is outside Canada, your education has to be accessed by any of the recognized bodied for Education Credential Assessment. This report proves your qualification is recognized as per Canada education system.

  • Language proficiency-

    Applicant needs to provide with either English or French language competency exam. For English either General IELTS or CELPIP can be given. For French either TEF or TCF is accepted. If applicant can go for both the language test, additional points will be awarded. Spouse needs only one test to add additional points to the application.

  • Submit your profile-

    Once all the documents are ready and you are eligible, Express Entry application is to be submitted. Based on which, application will be ranked using point based system.

  • Receive an Invitation and apply for Permanent residence-

    Based on the points and ranking, application will be selected by CIC (Citizenship and Immigration Canada). Upon receiving ITA (Invitation to Apply) further documentation will be required such as Police Clearance Certificate, Medicals, etc. To submit these documents 60 days will be provided by the government.
